If you’re newly engaged, first off, CONGRATULATIONS!! I genuinely get SO excited to meet newly engaged couples and hear all about their story. You’re probably enjoying showing off that shiny new ring, and maybe your head is already spinning with wedding plans… there’s so much to think about!
To help you get started in the right direction, I’m sharing 3 things to do after getting engaged:
1. Find & book a venue
This is one of the things that book the furthest in advance, so it’s really important to start this search first. Having a venue booked will also determine your wedding date, so you can start booking your suppliers and sending out those special save the dates!
Venue layout and features can also help determine the theme and vibe of your wedding day, so figuring out what style you’re going for is super important.
Then go VISIT some venues!! This is really exciting for you and your partner, and sometimes seeing venues online is completely different than seeing it in person. It is a LOT easier to visualise when you visit and walk around – is this where you’ll say I do? 😍
2. Find & book your dream photographer
Your photographer is the next thing to be booked. If you have a photographer in mind that you’ve been following and would LOVE to have at your wedding, don’t hesitate to reach out early – wedding photographers can book years in advance! Booking this as soon as possible will ensure your photographer has availability for your date. If you have a dream photographer in mind that’s great – you can even work with them when choosing a date!
Photos are one of the only things you’ll have to remember your wedding day, so it’s really important to take time finding your perfect photographer who will capture your day seamlessly. Not only that, you want a photographer you connect with well, who will serve you, and be EXCITED for you on your wedding day! I know for me, I want to 100% connect with every one of my couples to ensure they have an AMAZING wedding photography experience from start to finish.
Here’s another blog post I wrote about how to decide on a wedding photographer!
3. Make spending time with your partner a priority
I think this is SO important! During wedding planning it can be really easy to get lost in the details of the day, be super busy sorting everything out, and not have time for just the two of you. Making your relationship a priority while you’re engaged is one of the best things you can do. You’ll be so grateful you grew your relationship even more during this season!
BONUS TIP:
Hire a planner! They can save you so much time and stress, and help you through the whole planning experience. Upon booking, my clients receive an online guide full of tips and ideas, including super supplier recommendations with some amazing planners 😉
