What to do for a rainy wedding day

One of couples’ biggest wedding day worries: What am I supposed to do if it RAINS on our wedding?!

Here are 7 top tips and advice for a rainy wedding day:

1. Overcast skies = perfect lighting

Sunlight, particularly at midday, is very harsh. Cloud cover provides perfect soft and natural lighting so there are actually more options for photo locations! Of course I love golden, sunlit photos (who wouldn’t!), but overcast has advantages too!

2. Let your photographer worry about the photos

On your wedding day, the only thing you should have to think about is getting married!!

3. Be willing to go outside!

A lot of the time when it’s raining we get light showers that can be as quick to stop as they start! I will try to find a location with large trees to cover you and your bridal party. I also bring along cute clear umbrellas!

4. Have a rain plan

Particularly if you’re having an outdoor ceremony, this is very important! Be sure to communicate with your vendors what they should do if it rains. This means if the situation arises, everyone knows what to do and you won’t have to worry about a thing. What’s more, if you have a wedding planner they’ll help you with all of this!

5. Have a plan B

If your venue has suggested an outdoor drinks reception, check that they have another area for guests indoors should it suddenly rain.

6. Have your photographs inside

If the weather is just really bad you can always have your photos inside. This is a good thing to remember when looking for your venue – do they have a beautiful indoor area for photos just in case?

7. Embrace it!

Remember the real reason you’re getting married. Whatever the weather may be doing, you can still have a perfect wedding day.
